Thinking of visiting Mystic Massage & Wellness for your first professional Massage? But are unsure of what to expect?

After you have scheduled your appointment for your desired style of massage, you will be emailed an intake form, on which you can list any prevalent conditions or concerns, as well as your goals for the treatment. We strongly recommend waiting until any major injury or surgery has completely healed. Bandaged areas can be cumbersome or get oil on them. If you are able to comfortably and easily lay face down in a face cradle as well as turn over onto your back, that’s a good indication that you are ready to schedule a massage. Please arrive five to ten minutes early to fill out your intake form if you were not able to complete the one emailed to you prior to your service. Your therapist will come out and greet you at your scheduled appointment time and show you to the room in which you’ll be receiving your treatment. Before you begin, you and your therapist will have a short conversation going over your intake form. During this time, please tell your therapist of any medical information that is appropriate. Any information shared is always kept confidential. It is also important to share any known allergies. Please tell your therapist if there are any specific areas you may want them to focus on, (or stay away from), but you can expect a full body massage for 60, 75, or 90 minutes. It may take several sessions to relax some chronic overuse of your muscles, but significant relief can be achieved in one session. You will receive the massage on a heated table. If you prefer the table to not be heated, you can ask your therapist to turn the table warmer off. Therapists use nut-free oil or lotion, which is only applied to areas of exposed skin. If you choose to leave any clothes on, the therapist will not touch the skin directly with oil, but may do compressions on those areas. Please undress to your comfort level while your therapist waits outside the door. You may undress all the way down to your birthday suit if you prefer, you will be covered by sheets for the entirety of your massage for your privacy. Please remove all bracelets, necklaces, and wristwatches. Please leave any rings on your fingers and any piercings in, as we don’t want you to lose them. During your massage, your therapist will do all lifting of your arms or legs, you will not have to assist them. All you have to do is relax; they will do all of the work for you! If the massage feels uncomfortable at any point, if an area feels too sensitive to the amount of pressure being applied to it, please let the therapist know; otherwise, no news is good news. We ask that everyone in the Wellness Center use a soft voice to speak in order to not disrupt the relaxation of other visitors. Therapists typically won’t talk during the session in order to keep you in a state of bliss, but if you prefer to chat, therapists are more than happy to engage in pleasant conversation; it’s up to you! Once your massage comes to an end, your therapist will thank you for being here and offer to have a cup of water ready for you once you come out, they will then exit the room, giving you privacy to get redressed. Your therapist will be waiting in the foyer to check in on how you’re feeling post treatment. They may ask that you return to the room to discuss any at-home stretches or recommendations they have for you.

If you have any other questions, whether it be, during booking, mid massage, or after, please don’t hesitate to ask! The only silly question is the one not asked! It is our goal to make your experience with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible!
